The BA Honours programme in Sociology ( Programme Code BASOH) is of 148 credits with a mix of five types of courses: fourteen a) Core Courses, four b) Discipline Specific Electives, two c) Ability Enhancement Compulsory Courses, two d) Skill Enhancement Courses and two e) Generic Electives. While each of the Ability and Skill Enhancement is of four credit weightage, all other courses of this programme are six credit courses.

The University admits students to its Bachelors programmes from both formal and non-formal scheme. The non-formal stream consists of those students who have not cleared 10+2 or equivalent exam. To take admission to IGNOU’s degree programme they have to pass its Bachelor’s Preparatory Programme (BPP) first. There is no entrance test for seeking admission.

B.A.(Hon.) Psychology comprises of fourteen Core courses. Each course is of six credits, spread over six semesters of your programme. All the core courses have either practical or tutorial worth two credits. Along with the core courses, there are four Discipline Specific Elective courses offered in the fifth and the sixth semesters. Together these core courses and the discipline specific electives offer a basic perspective on behavior and individual differences, life span psychology, behavior in social context, application of psychology in diverse fields, and conducting research in psychology. These courses will enable the learner to acquire knowledge about psychology as a subject which will further help in their post graduate education in the related area. We also offer in this programme, Generic Elective courses which are interdisciplinary in nature and these would help the learner in the study of psychology by placing the discipline in the context of wider social sciences. At present, we are specifying the generic electives that are to be opted in the first four semesters. Skill based courses are offered in the third and fourth semesters, which again are from different discipline. Ability Enhancement courses are offered in the first two semesters which will develop a practical and vocational perspective (please refer to the list of courses being offered in the programme).

Programme overview
B.A.(Hon.) History comprises of fourteen Core courses of six credits each spread over the six semesters of your programme. Alongside four Discipline Specific Elective courses are offered to the students in the fifth and the sixth semesters. Together these core courses and the discipline specific electives offer a basic perspective on Indian, Far Eastern, European and Environmental histories. The idea behind these courses is that the students develop a historical sense which they can build on in their post graduate years. We also offer in this programme Generic Elective courses which are interdisciplinary in nature and these would help the students in their study of history by placing the discipline of history in the context of wider social sciences. Currently we are specifying the generic electives you have to take in the first four semesters. A person with 10+2 qualification is eligible for admission. Non 10+2 candidates who have completed Bachelors Preparatory Programme (BPP) of the University are also eligible for admission.
This is an unique and innovative programme in many respects with the following features:
Students without a formal qualification of 10+2 or its equivalent can also seek admission
Student can study at his own pace and convenience over a period of 3 to 8 years.
Student also gets basic knowledge in the core areas of Humanities, Social Sciences, Computers and Science & Technology as there are some compulsory foundation courses.
As there is a minimum component of application-oriented courses, student is exposed to vocational/professional expertise.
Students have the opportunity to develop skills in computers by selecting computer courses.
Besides elective course in commerce there is flexibility to choose courses from a wide range of other disciplines.

The Programme is of 96 credits comprising of all compulsory courses with an Internship and On the Job Training In the first, second and third year re0spectively.The programme is offered with modular approach as given below:

Second Year—Advanced Diploma in Retailing(ADIR)
Third Year— Bachelor of Business Administration (Retailing)(BBARL)

Lateral entry to 2nd year of BBARL: Those who have successfully completed Diploma in Retailing (DIR) from IGNOU, are eligible for lateral entry to the second year of BBARL Program. They will be required to study only the second year and third year courses. The minimum and maximum duration of the Programme for students joining through Lateral Entry shall be two years and four years respectively.
To join through Lateral Entry, applicants may register on the online admission portal, select BBARL Programme, and follow the process. The option for Lateral Entry shall be given at the time of filling qualification details. . A scanned copy of the final marks sheet (Grade Card) of DIR indicating successful completion of the Programme is required to be uploaded, along with other documents as required.
